Abstract

We have studied olfaction in 20 laryngectomies, only 10 of which were supplied with phonatory prosthesis. We conclude that patients without prosthesis show a higher threshold for perception of pure olfactory stimulants, whereas in those provided with the prosthesis the pure olfactory threshold remains within normal values.
