Microphysogobio chinssuensis Nichols 1926, one of the most common Microphysogobio species in the Yellow River Basin, is endemic to China. However, high-quality molecular data such as mitochondrial DNA, remain scare. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of M. chinssuensis protospecies collected from its type locality, Shanxi Province of China, was sequenced, assembled, and annotated. Our study not only provides essential molecular characterization of M. chinssuensis from its type locality, which would serve as an important reference for identification, but also would provide reliable genetic resources for further taxonomic, systematic, and genetic studies of the genus Microphysogobio.
